Artist Lesa Cook will present a virtual overview of the process of starting a portrait sculpture, beginning with the bare armature . Relying mostly on an "additive" approach, the portrait will start from the profile and build out from the center, creating structural "walls" that will act as bony landmarks, and then the transitional areas will be filled in, taking care to maintain symmetry. As the portrait gets to the proper width, and adjustments become smaller, surface modeling techniques will be demonstrated.
