2022 FCAA Member Show Opening

We had a GREAT turnout for the opening of 2022 FCAA Member Art Show.  We created this gallery for everyone who was unable to attend the opening or wants to relive the experience.  



October 2022 Event

On October 10, 2022. FCAA presented a special event with book artist Johnny Carrera.  He recounted his journey from being a practicing book artist to becoming the co-founder and executive director of the Frederick Book Arts Center, held a hands-on demonstration of the works created by Frederick Book Arts, and discussed the future of FBAC after fire damaged their studio.



September 2022 Gathering 

On September 12, 2022, 6:00pm for an engaging talk with artist Julie Maynard at the Delaplaine Arts Center.

Julie Maynard has been a member of TAG/The Artists Gallery since 2011.  In earlier days she was a photographer, then switched to wood sculpture.  Now she primarily works in paper collage, but there are often photographs or pieces of shaped wood to be found in her work.



April 2022 Gathering 

On April 11. 2022 professional photographer, Howard Clark, presented an entertaining and informative "how-to" photography lecture entitled "Getting From Good to Great".  The Lecture discussed elements of composition (leading lines, s-curves, repeating details, balance, et al.); The effects of weather (location, camera position, or time of day); and subjective elements (things like humor, mystery, or surprise). 

March 2022 Gathering 

On March 14, 2022. FCAA hosted a compelling artist talk with Craig Cavin entitled Gyotaku, Frottage, and Monoprints: Visually Sampling Our World.  

Craig began his studies in Fine Art at Webster College in 1970. His education post-Webster includes Horticulture, Tropical Agriculture, and Plant Pathology at Maui Community College and the University of Hawaii. He earned his Master's Degree in Environmental Biology at Hood College.Influences from his 30-year career as a Biological Technician and Biologist can be seen in his art. Cavin’s Current work is heavily inspired by observations of Natural phenomena. Craig shares a studio share a studio at the Griffin Art Center in Frederick, Maryland.
